INTRODUCTION
My philosophy forms the foundation of my political perspective.
Lupe and Jaime Mora were my first philosophy teachers.
Mom and Dad’s philosophical foundation was a fascination for life they wore on their sleeve. They chain-read everything from newspapers and magazines to books and encyclopedias. They loved art, music, and movies. They lived in museums. They travelled. Their circle of friends were interesting and varied. They held remarkable meta-conversations connecting everything to everything. We children learned by osmosis, grew up voracious readers, joined the conversation, excelled in school, completed university, and developed into profoundly enlightened adults.
My upbringing, independent reading, formal education, and experiences as a professional musician, international businessman, and husband and father fully formed the philosophy that engines my program.
I have distilled my philosophy to this one page. It is simple common sense, and profound as Shakespeare.
I start with the idea that if humans were not free in nature, we would have no ability to improve our future.
Here is an imaginary game that illustrates how nature works, and that we hold the promise of continuing our three-million year evolution into the indefinite future.
The game’s objective is for one player, Carl, to determine a name in the other player’s head, Betty. Betty is allowed to think of any number of names. Betty thinks of two names, Mother Theresa and Ruth Ginsberg. Carl asks her yes-or-no questions until he identifies one of the names:
- C: Is the name male? B: N.
- C: Was the person born before 1980? B: Y.
- C: Is the person alive? B: N.
- C: Is the name Mother Theresa? B: Y, game over.
The game gives five simple, powerful lessons.
- Each moment the universe has countless potential future paths.
- While you can sometimes make a correct initial guess, there is no way to correctly predict the outcome beforehand every time.
- It does not make sense to ask what is the correct answer beforehand because at that moment the answer is undetermined.
- The human asking questions determines the answer.
- The fact that humans determine the answers proves we are free.
Given that we are individually free, our combined potential is limitless.
We have the choice to name our movement.
I have named my movement and its symbolic shield Lovism.
I invite you to become a Lovist.
Please start with embracing everything you are and have ever done, and loving it.
Then spread the word.
I welcome the world to join the Lovism movement.
